Windows 10 laptop is plugged in and sleep mode for display is set for 2 hours yet screen turns off after 1 minute of non use. I have attempted to change various power settings without success. Windows 10 does not seem to have the Console Lock function in Control Power, Advanced Options as all the answers suggest to change. Under Control Panel Power Advanced try setting the turn off of the monitor display to never rather than 2 hours. Also set the enable adaptive brightness to off.
Also adjust everything there to not turn off set the hard drive to turn off after 0, which will disable it. Then see if that works. I'd also check the monitor and display adapter under Device manager to see if there are any issues.
Also check the website for the computer manufacturer and see if there are any new drivers for the device. Steve Cochran, Ph. Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another. I thought it to be the ROG 4k screen but friends who have Lenovo with 4k did not have this issue. I figured out my issue, although I'm not sure it will be the same case for everyone.

I have a brand new Surface Book 2 with all the latest updates. I've tried turning off the adoptive brightness and setting the screen shutoff to never, but it still times at after 1 minute. This is very annoying. AlfredAya Jr. How to prevent screen from prematurely shutting down? In reply to AlfredAya Jr's post on January 17, Here's what I did: Go to Settings Search for "Screen Saver" If the Wait time is set to 0 and the screen saver is disabled, enable the screen saver, set the time to 15 minutes or whatever you want other than 0 , and then disable it again if you want.
After I did that, the screen timeout behaved normally. Hopefully this solves the issue for others, as well. In reply to JonAvn's post on January 17, I did a little more experimenting, and apparently the screen saver wait time overrides the other power settings, even if the screen saver is set to None. Also, 1 minute is the minimum time so if you set it to 0 it will automatically get changed to 1 , so that should explain the timeout everyone is seeing. If you really want the power setting, just set the screen saver wait time to something bigger than that, and you should be covered.
